Church marketing can be overwhelming.  In a typical day, you have to:

  • Create content for the church’s social media, website, email, bulletins, and everything in between.
  • Coordinate your efforts with the rest of your team (or do EVERYTHING, if you don’t have one!)
  • Respond to comments and messages.
  • Field last-minute requests.
  • Stay up-to-date with current events & what’s happening in your church.
  • Sift through metrics to try to figure out what’s working, and what isn’t.

And that’s just your typical day!  When you’re juggling all of these responsibilities, it’s difficult to have time to plan for what’s next.  Why is this a problem?  Because, in our work with churches, we’ve noticed a trend.  Growing churches tend to plan their marketing at least three months in advance, while plateaued or declining churches do not.

Growth concerns aside, having a plan will make all of your day-to-day tasks easier.  Basically, if you have a clear vision for what your church’s marketing should look like, the details of your to-do list will fall into place much more easily.  This will free you of extra “noise,” and help you become more effective at sharing the message of Jesus Christ.

So, what’s the solution to the “I don’t have time to plan?” problem?

You need to set aside some specific time to do it.  How does September 29-30th sound?
